GLARA (Green Living Augmented+virtual ReAlity) is being developed as part of a project funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and aims to create a participatory planning service that enables and supports the design of green spaces with the participation of all stakeholders. By means of 3D visualization technologies in AR and VR, green space planning is vividly presented and its direct positive effects on the microclimate can be intuitively experienced. Participation should be low-threshold for all and accessible at any time. Therefore, GLARA is developing a mix of analog and digital participation formats to reach and activate diverse groups of people in the population. The GLARA planning service is being applied and tested in two case studies in Vienna for the redesign of public space.
